In Loving Memory
Helen Virginia Brown
 - 3/8/2010

On February 28, 1940 in the Damascus Community, a star appeared on the horizon.  God blessed Corine Jones Smith, Fred and Carrie Jones with a beautiful daughter.  She was given the name Helen Virginia Jones.  She was truly one of God's most beautiful gifts from above.  She was loved and will be sadly missed.  Her nurturing spirit was an anointing from God and was evident in her home, church, community and career.

She professed an early belief in Christ at the age of twelve at Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church.  Sis. Brown served faithfully as she was very gifted and loved to sing God's praises.  She served dutifully, as the President of the Mass Choir for many years, Adult Women's Sunday School Teacher for twenty-five years, Young People's Director for thirty years, Circle of Faith Counselor and Teacher for twenty years, Mission and Hospitality Committee for many years and, Chairperson of the Zion Grove Cemetery Committee.  Sis. Brown not only served faithfully in her church, but also in the Cypress Creek District as the music leader for the Women's Choir and in the past as the Young People's Director for over twenty-five years.  She remained dedicated doing the work of the Lord, until her health began to fail.

She attended Solomon Grove School and finished her high school education from the Pine Street School in Conway, Arkansas in 1958 and went on to graduate from Arkansas Beauty College in 1966.  She was employed at the Conway Human Development Center as supervisor in the Beauty Shop.  She retired after thirty-five years of service.

Though her professional life was inspiring, it paled in comparison to the time, effort and importance she placed on her relationship with God and her family.  She walked with Jesus for 58 years and shared his grace with those who knew her.  Sis. Brown was a giver in every form of the word.  She gave generously to strangers, community, her family and friends.

Words are inadequate to describe Sis. Brown's devotion to family, but she lived out the description of the virtuous woman, every last word of it, described in Proverbs 31:10-31.  We will miss her everyday until we see her again in Glory.

She enjoyed life and loved the great outdoors, working in her flowerbeds, gardening, vacationing, but it was her unconditional love that she treasured the most and that was spending time with her family, not to mention spoiling her grandchildren.

She was united in holy matrimony to Bronner J. Brown on May 24, 1958 in Conway, Arkansas to which seven children were born to this union.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years , one daughter, her maternal mother, her father, and one sister, Faye Dunevant.

On Monday March 8, 2010 at 9:46pm, the star dimmed.  At the age of 70, she left this world behind to be absent from the body and be present with the Lord.

Sis. Helen Brown leaves to cherish her memory, her mother Carrie Dillard Jones of Twin Groves, Arkansas; two sons, Jerry Brown and Gregory (Nancy) Brown of Twin Groves, Arkansas; Four daughters, Cynthia (Russell) Oliver, and Jennifer (Adam) Hall of Twin Groves, Arkansas; Kimberly (Ralph) Green and Karen (Terry) Crenshaw of Conway, Arkansas; One sister, Carolyn (Rev. Willie) Kelly of Raytown, Missouri, one brother Samuel Smith of Russellville, Arkansas; two brother-in-laws, Rev. Nathaniel (Vanteen) of Twin Groves, Arkansas; and Andrew (Gloria) Brown of Lake Charles, Louisiana; eleven grandchildren; Jordan Brown, Brittany Ray, Makayla Green, Kyle Green, India Oliver, Zachary Crenshaw, Haley Alford, Allison Brown, Destiny Oliver, Natalie Alford, Brycen Brown and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be 11am Saturday March 13, 2010 at Zion Grove Baptist Church, Twin Groves, Arkansas.  Interment Zion Grove Cemetery.  Visitation 6-7pm Friday at the church.  Arrangements entrusted to Larry G. Acklin Funeral Home, Conway.  "IN YOUR TIME OF NEED.... WE CARE."
